    Job Summary

    Medical Receptionist position is responsible for coordinating the daily administration of doctors, staff, visitors, and patients. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet patients and respond to phone calls in a welcoming and professional manner.
    • Participate in registering patients by gathering necessary information from patient to build a new/updated patient account in the Electronic Medical Record.
    • Collect payments, insurance co-pays, and prescription charges while following all CMD financial policies.
    • Perform various administrative duties such as photocopying forms, creating reports, faxing forms to employers, filing forms/charts and maintaining various logs of daily activities including patient count and financial transactions.
    • Schedule specialist referrals as needed for patient follow-up.

    Core Competencies**

    • Excellent communication skills at level necessary for taking patients' medical histories, understanding provider and supervisor’s instructions, and for accurately documenting patients' medical information.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
    • Demonstrates flexibility in regard to job duties and assignments.

    Education/Experience/Licensure

    • High school graduate preferred.
    • Previous hospital experience.
    • One-year medical front desk experience preferred.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Proficient knowledge in insurances.
    • Computer proficiency and prior experience with EPIC highly preferred.

    Working Environment - Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

    • Prolonged periods standing, reaching, and bending.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
    • Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations.
