    POSITION SUMMARY: JMT Architecture’s Higher Education Studio seeks an experienced and passionate architect to join our growing team dedicated to planning and design of forward-looking health education facilities featuring teaching and learning spaces that are both innovative and technology rich, embracing the newest trends in pedagogy.

     

    Our studio arrangement successfully combines the technical competence, variety of talent, and management expertise available within the larger firm with the hands-on, personal service of a small firm.  Our studio provides focused expertise in architecture, interior design, programming, planning, and research to create inspirational environments that foster learning and intellectual enrichment.

     

    Responsible for performing all phases of architectural work from conceptual design through construction administration.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Bring knowledge in health education planning and design to marketing pursuits and project teams
    • Present directly to the client on technical and design solutions
    • Actively gain new knowledge in the design and planning of health education spaces
    • Mentor staff to broaden their knowledge in this area of expertise
    • Speak or participate in professional conferences or other events related to academic and health education programming, planning and design.
    • Write articles to be published in professional journals or major trade publications
    • Work closely with the Project Manager to execute project plans
    • Coordinate with Project Manager to directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery
    • Participate in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project
    • Liaise with Project Management, other Architects and consultants
    • Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects
    • Coordinate with Director and Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies

     

    NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, Sketch-Up, AutoCAD
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

    Required Experience

    • Bachelors or Masters of Architecture
    • Minimum of 8-15 years of architectural design experience
    • Professional Architect License
    • Nursing/Healthcare professions experience
    • Higher Education experience
    • Business Development and Marketing experience for higher education studio
    • Experience directing and managing design teams

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • LEED AP accreditation preferred.
    • Strong graphic and verbal presentation abilities

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
