    SUMMARY

     

     

    The Senior Behavioral Health Consultant (SBHC) works with INSCOM’s Senior Leaders and specifically the Health of the Command (HOC) Psychologist to address suicide behaviors utilizing a holistic model of prevention. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Identify the risk factors that contribute to SI behavior in our population(s), recommended suicide prevention efforts and how to incorporate those efforts into our structure and system, and to translate recommendations/findings into establishing policy across the Enterprise.
    • Serve as a consultant behavioral statistician, clinical suicidologist and research investigator within INSCOM Office of the Command Surgeon (OTCS), reviewing research studies proposed or performed on the topic of suicide behavior. However, other areas may also include health & wellness, stigma, sleep, nutrition, behavioral health, and environmental factors insofar as they have to do with suicide behaviors. 
    • Serve as an investigator with responsibility for planning and conducting statistical methods required to evaluate, design and analyze a variety of research investigations occurring within INSCOM OTCS as well as for collaborative research investigations involving external entities. This work requires formulating, amending, and verifying theoretical, statistical and empirical models of analytical and experimental data from many application areas.
    • Serve as consultant to the INSCOM OTCS and as such, serves as the primary source of knowledge for statistical methodology for human subjects’ research, design, testing and evaluation (RDTE) activities.
    • Work with investigators and other entities to ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and military regulations guiding human subjects research as it relates to scientific methodology and analysis.

    Required Skills

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE

     

    • U.S. Citizen
    • Possess an active DoD TS/SCI level Clearance
    • Doctorate with 10 years of behavioral health statistician experience OR Masters with 15 years of behavioral health statistician experience.

     

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

     

    • Must be proficient in statistical consulting.
    • Must have expert knowledge of clinical suicidology research.
    • Must have the ability to provide statistical advising.
    • Must provide technical statistical computing support.
    • Must be able to evaluate and assess the existing system / program.
    • Must be knowledgeable of technology integration.
    • Professional knowledge of applied and mathematical statistics, especially experimental design and statistical methods
    • Possess the ability to prioritize and coordinate investigative efforts.
    • Posses the ability to define clinical and preventive practices.
    • Possess in-depth knowledge such as behavioral health, healthcare, biostatistics, business, applicable federal policies, regulations and standards or the various sciences.
    • Ability to provide leadership and guidance as needed in all phases of behavioral health with attention to planning, analysis, integration, documentation and presentation phases
