  • Responsibilities

    Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking an experienced full-time Construction Inspector willing to work in the Salt Lake County and the surrounding area. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of, and is directly responsible to, the Construction Administration Manager or other personnel assigned to specific construction operations. Inspector’s duties include inspection and observation, documenting and making necessary records or reports of operations, and other duties as directed by the Manager. The ideal candidate must have a good understanding and knowledge of work required by the contract. This position requires client interaction and coordination for all jobsite activities.

    Required Skills

    · Must have excellent knowledge of construction and its materials.

    · Experience working with UDOT and its standards & specifications is a bonus.

    · Conduct concrete testing, asphalt testing, and other on-site testing as needed.

    · Must know how to scale and measure distances.

    · Ability to lift and carry or otherwise move 40 pounds occasionally.

    · Ability to stand and walk outside on uneven terrain for sustained periods of time.

    · Highly responsible and dependable

    · Strong written and oral communication skills

    · Self-starter with positive attitude and an impeccable work ethic

    · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, primarily Outlook, Word and Excel and UDOT Masterworks required.

    · Travel to construction projects in Weber, Davis, Morgan, Salt Lake, Toole, and Utah counties.

    · Willing to work ~10-hour days and/or night work as needed.

    Required Experience

    · Minimum of 2 years of construction inspection OR 5 years in construction labor.

    · Experience with UDOT and/or other public agencies is a bonus.

    · Willing to train on all UDOT Transportation Technician Qualification Program (TTQP) Certifications, Construction Inspection Training program, and take Partnering Training.

    · Must have valid Utah Driver’s License and a safe driving record.

    · Other testing and special inspection certifications are a bonus.

    Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $45.00, based on experience and qualifications.
