    General Summary

    COLSA is looking for a Linux Administrator to join our team and help us manage our Linux servers. The right candidate will have experience administering Linux servers and be able to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise. The ideal candidate will need to be detail oriented and able to document procedures used to maintain systems. The role will require performing technical support and oversight for Linux systems to include, but not limited to planning, designing, evaluating, and maintaining RHEL7, RHEL8, CentOS Rocky8, and Ubuntu deployment and support.


    *Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential functions)

    · Collaborate with Lab Engineers to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

    · Demonstrated experience with STIGs, vulnerability scans, and data-at-rest encryption.

    · Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.

    · Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure.

    · Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

    · Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks.

    · Ability to work on virtual and physical systems.

    · Knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky or Red Hat.

    · Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    · Assist with server and procedural documentation.

    · Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

    · Mitigate ACAS findings on systems.

    · Review network/system configurations to ensure compliance with security requirements.

    · Maintain and control access and accounts.

    · Maintain software update repositories and apply update strategies.

    · Automate most common system actions.

    · Maintain the existing server and host infrastructure.

    · Analyze current technologies used within the system and determine ways to improve.

    · Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks and systems meet documented user requirements.

    · Assist with conducting security assessments following defined security policies and procedures.

    · Assist ISSM with developing Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation documentation, SOPs, policies, POA&Ms, and work instructions.

    Required Qualifications

    • One of the following education and experience combinations
      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 8-10 years of related experience
      • Associates degree in computer science or related field and 12-14 years of related experience
      • High School diploma and 16-18 years of related experience
    • Current CompTIA Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT-II Baseline Certification.
    • Linux OS Certification or certificate of course completion.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to document procedures OR develop checklists used to maintain systems.
    • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to process.
    • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance; US Citizenship required

    Preferred Qualifications

    · Experience with System Virtualization

    · Experience with Ansible Playbooks
