    ECM, a JMT Company, provides a full range of project delivery services for many types of projects and clients.     Position summary: Project team member responsible for assisting with: (1) providing projects and construction project oversite using knowledge of general engineering and construction principles and practices to interpret, organize, coordinate, communicate and execute assignments with limited supervision, (2) assisting PM/CM with project controls, documentation and reporting, (3) ensuring work is performed and completed in accordance to the contract documents, and (4) providing support to other team members, and (4) other tasks as may be assigned by the Project Manager/Supervisor. This person will assist the Helpdesk in all areas of end user support as needed in their El Paso, Texas Office. This involves assistance in Computer Deployment, Computer updates, Software updates and requests to the Helpdesk. This would include acting as a team member on various projects assigned to the Helpdesk.

    Essential functions and responsibilities

    • Assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work throughout the various phases of the project.
    • Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, maps, aerial photography, topographical surveys etc.
    • Monitor project progress to ensure work is being provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
    • Prepare reports and logs such as inspector daily reports, cost to date, estimated cost to complete, submittals, RFI’s, etc.
    • Assist with performing quantity surveys and take-offs from contract documents and actual work-in-place
    • Assist with preparing construction cost budgets and estimates
    • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and bidding activities
    • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
    • Attend various meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes
    • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines
    • Support with IT/PM-CM related tasks and virtual conferences
    • Maintain office equipment and assist personnel in resolving computer related issues
    • Maintain asset records and identification
    • New computer and equipment setup
    • Run office errands as needed
    • Coordination with JMT HelpDesk regarding tickets and equipment

    Nonessential functions and responsibilities

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment

    Preferred skills

    • Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling. Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus

    Required Experience

    Required Experience

    • Current student pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program
    • Knowledge of IT systems.

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
