    JMT HAS AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR A SENIOR HIGHWAY PROJECT MANAGER. The successful candidate will manage and grow a design team(s) that is engineering a variety of transportation projects including advanced planning and schematic design, as well as preparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E). 

     

    JOB SUMMARY 

    Responsibilities include providing project management oversight and applying engineering expertise in the daily operations for planning and design production of transportation projects in accordance with good engineering practice; developing and maintaining client relationships; quality assurance and quality control; coordinating and scheduling work to meet project goals on time and budget; leading and coordinating with engineering design staff and other disciplines to meet project objectives.  Will supervise, schedule, and monitor work of other team members. Will be responsible for estimating fees, determining scope of work, preparing proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects.

    Required Skills

    • Must be able to initiate contacts with existing and potential clients and assist in building client relationships and business development activities
    • Must be able to lead the proposal development process and will perform technical writing.
    • Must possess an advanced knowledge of the engineering consulting industry, and be solution oriented (in particular highway design)
    • Must have strong skills in leadership, project management, mentoring junior staff, and client interaction
    • Must be capable of managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight managing staff to complete the work.
    • Working knowledge schematic and PS&E development required
    • Ability to write, speak, and communicate clearly in English is a must
    • Working knowledge of Microstation, OpenRoads, and ProjectWise is required
    • Should be proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel and Outlook

    Required Experience

    • BSCE from an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering curriculum
    • Active PE License
    • TxDOT precertification
    • Minimum 12 years of previous transportation engineering experience on TxDOT roadway/drainage and utility projects
    • Must have a TXDOT PS-CAMS project management record

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

     

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
