    JMT is seeking an Electrical Project Designer having extensive experience in Power Distribution, Special Systems (Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control), and Lighting design and layout to be a part of our growing Facilities Engineering practice in the York, PA office. The Electrical Project Designer will be provided the opportunity to be directly involved from the initial conceptual electrical design to completion for facilities type projects across a wide range of industries including transportation, education, aviation, and energy.

     

    The Electrical Project Designer will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate electrical design work including coordination of the project with Local, City, State, and County codes and officials. Working with a team of technically qualified designers and engineers, the Electrical Project Designer will have the opportunity to resolve a variety of complex issues, (i.e., challenging design requirements, requirements for unconventional materials, difficult coordination requirements, etc.) while also occasionally serving as a liaison between clients and agencies, subconsultants, and supporting design teams.

    Required Skills

    • Advanced AutoCAD and REVIT software capabilities
    • Proficient in AGI and COMcheck software
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
    • Working knowledge of NEC, ASHRAE, IBC, IECC, and NFPA codes for completing electrical design work
    • LEED accreditation is a plus
    • Fundamental of Engineering or EIT Certification is a plus
    • Lighting Certification (LC) is a plus
    • Must be an outgoing individual who works well in a cooperative, team-oriented environment that spans multiple disciplines and office locations
    • Desire to participate and excel with a broad range of project types, roles, customers and tasks
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 5 - 10 years of work experience in the facilities design field
    • A relevant Associate’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Prior design work experience in, construction, educational, transportation, federal, public works, and aviation industries is a plus

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.  Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. 

     

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.  Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.

     

    Regional travel, generally within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and neighboring states, will occasionally be required for meeting attendance, field survey, and construction verification activities.
