    JMT's Pittsburgh Office is seeking a motivated individual who desires increasing responsibilities in subsurface utility engineering (SUE), managing and marketing a variety of projects. The successful candidate will be well-versed across the SUE discipline including records research, utility designating, and utility locating, and can embrace new technology in the field.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Assemble field data, records research, oversee utility designation work, prepare test hole forms
    • Manage operations of field crews
    • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
    • Prepare and monitor project budgets and billing
    • Responsible for client management on projects
    • Business development for discipline in market

    Required Skills

    • Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must
    • General understanding of SUE plan preparation using Inroads/Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 5+ years of experience in SUE
    • Experience with PennDOT project delivery
    • A working knowledge of Federal, State and local jurisdiction regulations
    • Familiarity with SUE equipment, field and office procedures, vacuum excavation
    • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level preferred
    • Supervisory experience preferred

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 75% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
