  • Responsibilities

     

    The Management Analyst will conduct organizational studies and evaluations, Design systems and procedures, Conduct work simplifications and measurement studies, and Prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.

     

    Major Duties:

     

    • Function as a Management Analyst and expert on management systems techniques, processes and technology that will optimize the Division's operations.
    • Analyze administrative processes and/or Division programs.
    • Write reports, letters, and other documents with recommendations for management programs, policies and activities.
    • Develop new or revised procedures for financial and administrative review of travel procedures to facilitate the operation of the Division with established guidelines. Conduct administrative and financial analysis of travel activities.
    • Oversee the preparation of various recurring reports such as monthly, quarterly, cumulative semi-annual and cumulative annual reports of use of travel services.
    • Provide technical guidance and assistance to lower level staff in the review of documents in the official travel process.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

     

    Professional Qualifications/Skills:

     

    • Must be a US citizen with a valid US passport and possess or obtain/maintain a minimum a SECRET clearance;
    • Associates degree preferred and 7 years’ experience.
    • Must possess excellent command of the English language and excellent writing skills
    • Must be Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
    • Maintains professional competence and specialized knowledge base by keeping abreast of emerging themes and best practices
    • Knowledge of and skill in applying analytical and evaluate techniques in order to plan, schedule and conduct studies and analyses of management functions or programs;
    • Knowledge of substantive programs, goals, pertinent laws, and policies in order to analyze and assemble information; and knowledge of management and organizational techniques, systems and procedures to perform analytical studies.
    • Department of State experience preferred

     

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

     

    As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. May be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Must have or be eligible for security clearances. May require occasional travel.

  • Qualifications

    Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school.  

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 

    • Experience with GPS/Trimble navigation and data collection 
    • Experience in CRM-based archaeological survey and/or excavation
    • Virginia and North Carolina experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology
    • Knowledge of historic/prehistoric material culture and artifact processing 
    • Ability to navigate using compass and USGS topographic map
    • Ability to develop site maps and excavation drawings

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.  

    Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
