Our platforms test team is searching for new test engineer professionals that can help us design and execute test events. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, learning new technology areas, this is the place for you. We provide a number of opportunities to learn ranging from on-the-job training with other team members to formal courses for unique technology areas.
We realize that no one will have all of these qualifications. We are looking for people that have a system engineering foundation and have the drive and motivation to learn all other required areas. Position responsibilities can span from customized test configurations to lab infrastructure support.
This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron (46 TS) at Eglin AFB as a member of the platforms test team responsible for planning, designing, and executing test events for platform programs. This position includes the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform as a member of the 46 TS Platforms Element Test team.
- Interface directly with 46 TS customers and other DOD components as well as product development contractors.
- Plan, execute, and report on test events for platform tactical communication systems hosting the following data links: Joint Range Extension, Link 16, Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL), Variable Message Format (VMF) and emerging data links.
- Operate data link systems and equipment.
- Develop in depth understanding and working knowledge of MIL-STD-6016 J-message formats and usage.
- As a technical team member in an engineering role, review customer requirements and participate in test planning meetings.
- Develop test plans and procedures, schedules, and execute a test within the constraints of customer requirements and produce timely test reports.
- Author technical documents and briefings and conduct formal presentations.
- Travel to locations, as required, to conduct tests, collect and reduce data. ****

One of the following combinations of education and experience:
* **Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, mathematical or computer science discipline (i.e., CS, EE, AE, ME, etc.) and a minimum of 3-5 years of technical experience with military tactical data links relative to C4ISR operations.**
- Applicable associate degree and a minimum of 7-9 four years of applicable technical experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 9-13 of technical experience
- Good understanding of basic computer networking
- Good understanding of computer system design and software development.
- U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and ability to qualify for DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
- Able to travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations, CONUS and OCONUS up to 25% of the time.
- Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical experience with Link 16, SADL, and VMF.
- Technical experience in the areas related to data link radios.
- Experience and knowledge of tactical datalinks mission threads.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems.
- Understanding of DT&E processes, specifically acquisition program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force Command and Control (C2). \
- Knowledge of systems analysis and application software development concepts, functions, and techniques.
- Able to evaluate tactical communications emerging technologies.
- Security+ certification
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher preferred
