Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

    ABOUT THE ROLE As an Information Governance Operations Manager – US West, you will be responsible for managing all functions of the Information Governance department in the firm’s offices in California, including file management (both physical and electronic), file intake, file releases, destruction requests, data access requests, case room management, and records retention. The Manager advises on a variety of information governance issues to ensure that the firm’s management of information meets applicable legal, ethical, security, and privacy requirements in all jurisdictions in which the firm operates. Other key responsibilities include:

     

    • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Information Governance in California offices; supervising and developing their staff; organizing, assigning, delegating, and coordinating the work of the staff to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately
    • Consulting firm personnel on the appropriate locations where information should be stored; acting as a resource regarding various information governance questions for staff, attorneys, and other users
    • Coordinating and assisting as necessary with firmwide file intake and release procedures; ensuring compliance with policies and monitors completion of the process; responding to questions from practice offices, and providing instruction and training as needed
    • Supervising, training and coaching Information Governance team members and leading them in their professional development endeavors
    • Overseeing and coordinating file intake, release, destruction, disposition, and data access procedures for the region; ensuring compliance with policies, and ensuring completion of the process; responding to questions, and providing instruction and training as needed

     

    ABOUT YOU We’d love to hear from you if you:

     

    • Demonstrated the ability to think creatively and provide strategic support to management
    • Possess excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management, with the ability to supervise the work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy
    • Have extensive knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures. Basic understanding of various legal systems and a broad understanding of the types of documents encountered in a legal environment

     

    And have:

     

    • A Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree preferred; a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree 
    • A CRM, IGP and/or CIPP certification
    • A minimum of six (6) years of Information Governance or Records experience, preferably in a law firm Information Governance or Records Department; experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related Information Governance or Records experience
