Position Summary

Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repair on HVAC units, overhead message signs, audio, visual, internet accessibility along with fire, life, safety and security systems. Performs preventative maintenance and installation on low, medium and high voltage building circuits, telephone, video and fiber optic systems. Maintains all existing building lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring. Installs and maintains specialized electrical and electronic equipment such as UPS, emergency generators, switch gears and specialized machinery. Will be 1 of 2 electricians and report to the Tunnel Systems Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Operate power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment
• Install, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery
• Construct and maintain service equipment, operate bucket truck and aerial man lift
• Read electrical circuit diagrams and construction plans
• Install conductors, splice cables and build terminations
• Perform duties of tunnel operator when required
• Purchase parts, materials and supplies and work with vendors on cost and availability
• Work Independently, prioritize work and keep detailed records

Required Skills

Required Experience

• Minimum of 21 years of age and 3 years of industrial commercial electrical experience
• High School graduate or GED with post-secondary education or technical training
• Valid drivers license, operator or CDL and driving insurability
• Ability to work min 40 hours per week, nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies
• Ability to work heights, confined spaces and wear PPE and SCBA protective equipment
• Sense of sound to use radios, telephones and other audio equipment
• Sense of touch ability to wear PPE eye, hearing and fall protection
• Sense of balance
• Ability to lift 125 pounds

Preferred Experience and Training

• Possess current KY Journeyman or Master Electrician license
• Education or experience in commercial electrical applications and ability to complete coursework for license

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a transportation tunnel environment that includes inside and outside work in all types of weather from extreme heat to extreme cold, rain, snow, etc. for several hours at a time. This could include fire scenes, chemical spills, confined spaces, bucket or aerial manlifts. The environment is often dirty or dusty with elevated levels of ambient noise. Indoor work may include some temperature-controlled environments.
