    The Survey Technician is responsible for the overall completion of the data processing phase of specific field survey projects.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs topographic plotting, terrain modeling, plat preparation, note reduction and design file generation
    • Perform office survey activities in accordance with Minimum Standards of Practice for Surveying
    • Operate and supervise the use of all survey equipment including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS, HD Scanning and UAS.
    • Performs office computations necessary for the completion of task assignments including QA/QC.
    • Completes equipment maintenance
    • Coordinates information for stakeout services
    • Analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy
    • Prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records and other survey reports

    Required Skills

    • Skills in coordinate geometry and trigonometry
    • Proficient in Microstation & AutoCAD
    • Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes
    • Proficiency in Inroads/OpenRoads preferred
    • Ability to perform and process 3D laser scanning preferred
    • Must possess or be willing to obtain a FAA part 107 remote pilot certification preferred

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Familiarity with FDOT standards for field and office surveying required
    • Extensive knowledge in field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, GPS surveys, construction stakeout, and HD Scanning
    • Carlson Survey experience preferred
    • Relevant professional experience preferred

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 75% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. 

    Field work is required 25% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed. 

    Out of town travel will be required 10% of the time. Travel will be inside the continental United States.
