    JMT is seeking a Construction Management Engineering Technician for the Pennsylvania CM/CI division for its York and Harrisburg offices. The Technician will assist our Construction Engineer and act as the client’s representative working closely with our clients (PennDOT, DRPA, DRJTBC, SEPTA, PTC, etc.) throughout the Pennsylvania region. The Technician will work closely with JMT’s Senior Construction Management staff and will ensure that proper contract adherence and inspection requirements are met; attend/conduct project control meetings; document work progress; monitor construction quality and safety; and will work as an extension of our client.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in providing construction management/inspection services on bridges, roadways, transit and other transportation and inter modal facilities
    • Assist in resolving field construction issues and provide recommendations
    • Prepare, maintain and secure contract records including correspondence, contractor documents, meeting minutes, daily inspection reports, specifications and non-compliance notices
    • Assist with providing Quality Assurance support for reviews on construction projects to ensure objectives and assignments are conducted in conformance to contract documents
    • Prepare Quality Assurance Reports on field operations which may include findings and recommendations for corrective actions
    • Other related construction management support functions as needed

     

     

    Required Skills

    • Must possess strong computer literacy skills
    • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
    • Practical construction management capabilities
    • Certifications in PennDOT concrete, NECEPT bituminous and NICET desirable

    Required Experience

    • 4 year degree in civil engineering or construction management or closely related field is required
    • EIT preferred
    • 3 to 5 years of experience of related experience required
    • Previous PennDOT, PTC, Airport and Local Government experience is preferable

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. 

    Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
