TAX PROFESSIONAL

Johnson, Murphey & Wright, PC is a local accounting firm serving Chattanooga, TN, and the surrounding area. We also prepare tax returns for a wide variety of clients, including individuals, partnerships, corporations, not-for-profits, and estates.

We are seeking a TAX PROFESSIONAL to join our tax preparation staff. The successful candidate will perform tax and accounting, functions as a member of our tax preparation staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The hours required for this position are no more than 44 hours per week from January 31st until April 15th (or the filing deadline), and flexible hours per week for the rest of the year.

• Preparation of individual, partnership, corporation, and fiduciary tax returns.
• Preparation of federal and state returns for not-for-profit entities.
• Preparation of payroll tax returns, including W-2’s and 1099s.
• Performing year-end closing assistance for various clients.
• Helping coordinate work among tax staff.
• Understanding of internal tax aspects of company software and reference needs, helping update list of client deadlines, and awareness of tax legislation changes.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers, the IRS, and state governmental entities

• This position will commence as a preparer but could quickly transition into an Asst. Manager position.

• We are looking toward an August 1st start date for orientation and extended return assistance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• Active licensed CPA
• Preferred 3 years experience with a public accounting firm preparing individual, partnership, corporate, and trust tax returns. Experience with tax-exempt return filings is a plus.

Software Knowledge

· Knowledge of CCH ProSystem (or similar) tax software, QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
