Job Description

Johnson Service Group is looking for a Public Information Rep for one of our Clients in the Bay Area. This position's primary responsibilities include planning, organizing, and coordinating public and private tours of the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center in north San Jose. The PIR I/II will serve as a primary tour guide and manage tour scheduling and registration. Currently, tours are conducted virtually, via Zoom. Onsite tours may resume once pandemic restrictions are lifted.

DURATION: Part-time – 960 hours, 20 – 30 hours per week

SALARY: Public Info Rep I: $43.60, Public Info Rep II: $48.13

LOCATION: San Jose, CA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning, managing and organizing tours of Water Purification Center.
• Implement and execute communications and public outreach plans for the agency’s recycled and purified water program, including planning special events and open houses for the community, priority stakeholders and/or employees.
• Writing and producing multi-lingual public information and education materials (print/digital/social media).
• Preparing and making public presentations to community and youth groups and tracking and analyzing program effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in community outreach with strong/advanced skills in interpersonal communication; community outreach; project management; writing; public presentation and public speaking to lead public tours, presentations and planning logistics for meetings and events.
• Good customer service, leadership skills, and experience working with the public and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of digital and social media marketing, including producing and publishing content as well as tracking analytics and results, is desired.
• Also desired, but not required: fluency and proficient literacy in another language such as Vietnamese, Chinese, or Spanish.

PIR I

• One (1) year of experience in public relations, public information, community relations, graphic design, education, or outreach activities.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, education, or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement based on one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.

PIR II

• Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, journalism, graphic design, public relations, education, or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement based on one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
• Three (3) years of experience in public relations, graphic design, education and/or volunteer outreach, public information, community relations, or outreach activities.
