TEMPORARY JAPANESE LOCALIZATION SPECIALIST

JONCKERS IS A GLOBAL TRANSLATION AND LOCALIZATION COMPANY WITH AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR A JAPANESE LOCALIZATION SPECIALIST . THIS IS A TEMPORARY, 4-MONTH FULL-TIME CONTRACTOR ROLE SUPPORTING ONE OF OUR GAME LOCALIZATION CLIENT (STARTING MID JANUARY). CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCATED IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA TO BE ABLE TO REPORT DAILY TO AN ONSITE LOCATION IN SAN MATEO. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

More details will be provided to qualified candidates but see below some general information about the role. 

You would be supporting an online user-generated gaming platform for:

• Players – aged 9-13 years
• Game developers – aged 13-21 years

As a specialist, you would need to:

• Create rules for chat filtering to filter out inappropriate or undesirable words

• Create rules for user name creation

• Other QA or testing duties as assigned

• Other Localization duties as assigned

• Job Requirements:

  • Native-level ability in Japanese
  • Excellent command of English
  • Recent experience living in Japan and/or close familiarity with the teen gaming culture there
  • Some localization QA experience
  • 1-3 years of translation/localization experience
  • Able to report onsite in San Mateo, CA to perform job functions
  • Authorized to work in the United States
