    This new position can be remote for the most part, but the successful candidate should live in Charlotte or the surrounding area, available for an occasional meeting.

    You should have 3+ years of SQL DBA experience as well as some development skills.

    Here are some of the qualifications and duties:

     

    Job Summary

    The SQL Database Administrator ensures the databases that support of the E-Business and technology systems are designed and performing as needed and provides the expertise to optimize and maintain the data. This position will also need to do some programing as needed.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Work with developers, BA’s and other IT staff to create and modify our database structure
    • Proactively monitor and optimize the performance of the database servers
    • Perform database maintenance tasks, including backups/restores, updating statistics, rebuilding indexes, etc.
    • Work with data engineers to help map data in production databases to data warehouse
    • Maintain system security and data integrity
    • Work with our systems engineers to ensure optimal resources are allocated for the database servers.
    • Install, upgrade and patch the database servers
    • Work with vender on issues with the database applications
    • Working knowledge of all software applications including but not limited to Great Plains, Raiser's Edge, Kronos and Personify (learned in 30 days).
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft- based products - Windows Server SQL, .Net.
    • Ability to utilize tools that work with current operating systems, databases, and programming languages

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BA/BS/MS degree from an accredited college in computer science, information technology or a related field.
    • Experience with SQL Server database administration
    • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services
    • Experience with Data warehouse
    • Experience with Web Proxy’s (FortiWeb is a bonus)
    • Some programming skills
    • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

    PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:

     Monitor, develop and maintain the Application Development infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and IIS Server

    • This position will mentor and coach existing staff as well as future staff.
    • Maintain software compatibility standards.
    • Participate in the system design and analysis of new systems or sub-systems to meet business goals.
    • Manage programmers to specifications utilizing programing languages currently utilized within the company. Perform detail evaluation and quality control for existing and proposed applications.
    • Work cooperatively with outside vendors of software applications such as, but not limited to: Personify; Kronos - HR/Payroll; General Dynamics; Raisers Edge and others with a focus on hardware/software requirements, implementation, training, and support.
    • Assist IS staff as second-tier support of all business application operations.
