    The Josselyn Center team is growing as we expand our Community Mental Health Centers in Northfield, IL and Waukegan, IL! We are seeking camp counselors to work at our therapeutic day camp for children. We are working to bring quality, comprehensive mental health care to as many people as possible, especially those traditionally underserved.

    CAMP NEEKA IS A 4-WEEK THERAPEUTIC DAY CAMP FOR CHILDREN AGES 8-16. THIS CAMP PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN WHILE THEY BUILD SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS THROUGH THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES. CAMP NEEKA IS LOOKING FOR A SUMMER STAFF MEMBER WITH A SOCIAL SERVICE BACKGROUND OR INTEREST IN SOCIAL SERVICES.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Fun and supportive camp counselors are a crucial part of camp. They encourage active, social and healthy lives by:

    • Leading children through organized activities and events

    • Acting as a positive role model

    • Caring for campers individual needs

    • Building investment and excitement in camp through their own energy and relationships with campers

    • Collaborating with staff members to best support campers

    • Completing documentation on campers day and track campers individual social-emotional growth

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must attend orientation/training sessions two weeks before start of camp

    • Must be available Mon.-Fri, 8:45am-3:30pm, JUNE 13TH - JULY 30TH

    • 18 years or older, in college or completed college with a focus in psychology, social services or education

    • Be active in daily activities, teach and encourage children

    • Comfortable with traveling and chaperoning on fieldtrips, the pool and the beach

    • Must have strong communication skills and professionalism will interacting with staff, campers and parents

    • Ability to maintain composure and model patience in stressful situations

    Job Types: Part-time, Internship

    Pay: Starting at $15.00 per hour
