  • Responsibilities

    Summary – Journeyman Electrician – Rack House Electrical Upgrades: In this position you will play a critical role in bringing rack-house refrigeration systems up to current NEC standards. You will replace breakers, contactors, fuse blocks, and main feeders during carefully planned one-hour shutdown windows, working side-by-side with refrigeration control technicians. Travel is provided and paid, and each project is scheduled in advance so you can do high-impact work without unpredictable call-outs.

    Responsibility Summary – Journeyman Electrician – Rack House Electrical Upgrades:

    • Replace breakers, contactors, fuse blocks, and main feeders inside control cabinets to NEC-2023 standards, issuing new R-class fuse stickers upon completion.
    • Coordinate with refrigeration control techs to power down, perform work, and restore systems within a 60-minute rack shutdown window.
    • Inspect existing wiring and components; identify and report any conditions that could delay restart or compromise safety.
    • Travel to regional stores and distribution centers according to a rolling project calendar (mileage, lodging, and per-diem covered).
    • Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free worksite; follow NFPA 70E and company safety protocols at all times.
    • Document all work on a tablet, including components replaced, torque readings, photos, and compliance sign-offs.
    • Assist in maintaining tools, test instruments, and inventory of spare breakers, contactors, and fuse blocks.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualification Summary – Journeyman Electrician – Rack House Electrical Upgrades:

    • Active Journeyman Electrician license (state-recognized; master license not required).
    • Three (3) or more years of experience installing or replacing breakers, contactors, fuse blocks, or main feeders in control cabinets or MCCs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of NEC requirements for commercial refrigeration/electrical systems; ability to read and interpret single-line and wiring diagrams.
    • Proven track record of working safely and efficiently under tight time constraints or planned shutdowns.
    • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel and stay overnight for up to 2 weeks at a time as project schedules require.
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs and to work on your feet or on ladders for extended periods.
    • Basic computer/tablet proficiency for documentation and time entry.
    • Willingness and ability to work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Possess and demonstrate proficiency in the above responsibilities.
