In the field of industrial mechanics for underground utilities, typical roles encompass: Maintenance and Repair: Underground mechanics are tasked with the upkeep and repair of heavy machinery utilized in underground mining and tunneling activities, ensuring operations are both safe and efficient.
Utility Installation: They may also participate in the setup of underground utilities, including hot and chilled water systems, pneumatic tube lines, and others.
Emergency Repairs: Certain positions necessitate responding to urgent situations and conducting routine maintenance on domestic water, fire protection, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems.
Skills Required: Candidates who succeed in this field often possess experience with heavy machinery, a solid understanding of hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and welding, and may be required to hold a relevant trade certification.
