Airco Service Company, a leading commercial HVAC/Mechanicals contractor in Troy, IL, is seeking an experienced Journeyman Pipefitter. You’ll be integral in installing, maintaining and repairing piping systems within mechanical, HVAC and process applications. You’ll work in a hands-on environment, partner with project teams, and drive high-quality performance while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings and piping schematics; lay out pipe runs accordingly.
Install, assemble and align piping systems (carbon steel, stainless, copper, PVC/CPVC, etc.) including valves, flanges, supports and hangers.
Fabricate (thread, groove, weld or join) pipe systems and perform pressure testing and inspections to verify integrity and compliance.
Perform maintenance, repairs and retrofits on existing piping systems (e.g., steam, chilled/hot water, compressed air, process utility lines).
Collaborate with project managers, foremen, contractors and client representatives to meet schedule, budget and quality targets.
Operate tools and equipment safely (threaders, benders, welders, cutting tools); maintain job site housekeeping and system documentation.
Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection and PPE usage.
Assist in mentoring or training less experienced pipefitters or apprentices as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent technical trade schooling) preferred.
Minimum of 3-7 years of pipefitter or mechanical piping installation/maintenance experience in commercial/industrial settings (5+ years preferred for higher compensation).
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, and fabrication plans.
Skilled in fabrication, alignment, support installation, welding/brazing (as applicable), threading, grooving and joining techniques.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
Strong safety mindset with experience in general construction or mechanical service site safety protocols.
Preferred: journeyman pipefitter credential, welding certification (e.g., AWS/ASME), or experience with industrial piping systems in HVAC/process environments.
