Our client is seeking an experienced Journeyman Technician to support marine engine and generator customers across a wide range of marine and industrial environments. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with marine power systems, and the flexibility to travel extensively.

The ideal candidate is a self-driven, detail oriented field technician who can independently diagnose, repair, and commission marine engines and generator systems in demanding customer environments.

This role offers a unique work structure averaging approximately 1,000 hours per year, making it ideal for experienced technicians seeking strong compensation with increased flexibility and personal time. Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary of $85,000-$125,000
• Competitive company benefits including health insurance

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on marine engines and generator systems
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including control panels, sensors, wiring harnesses, and switchgear
• Service and support marine propulsion and power generation equipment (Wabtec experience a plus)
• Conduct start-ups, commissioning, and load testing of generators
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Perform root cause analysis on mechanical and electrical failures
• Travel extensively to customer vessels, shipyards, and marine facilities
• Provide detailed service documentation and field reports
• Maintain strong customer communication and represent the company professionally onsite

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level technical experience in marine, industrial, or power generation environments
• Experience working on marine diesel engines and auxiliary power systems
• Strong electrical troubleshooting background (AC/DC systems, controls, PLC basics preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
• Field service experience with high travel requirements
• Valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

• Experience with Wabtec equipment
• Marine propulsion systems
• Generator paralleling and synchronization
• VFDs, engine controls, and automation systems
• Shipboard power distribution systems
• Offshore or shipyard service experience
