    JOB OVERVIEW The position of Assistant Teacher includes fostering a positive and supportive environment to promote the physical, mental, social, and academic well-being of children at Joyful Hearts Child Care. This position involves actively engaging with children, implementing age-appropriate activities, and assisting in daily routines.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Child Supervision and Engagement:

    Supervise and monitor children during playtime, meals, and other activities.

    Plan and facilitate age-appropriate games, educational activities, and creative exercises.

    Use appropriate, positive behavior management techniques for children in care

    Assist with Curriculum Implementation:

    Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to implement the daycare's curriculum.

    Support educational and developmental goals through planned activities and routines.

    Safety and Well-being:

    Ensure a safe and clean environment for children.

    Monitor and address any safety concerns promptly.

    Attend to the personal needs of children, including feeding, diapering, and comforting.

    Communication with Parents:

    Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding their child's daily activities, progress, and any concerns using the Brightwheel app.

    Participate in parent-teacher meetings and conferences as required.

    Record Keeping:

    Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, activities, and any incidents via Brightwheel.

    Document observations and developmental milestones via Brightwheel.

    Collaboration with Team:

    Work closely with the Lead Teacher and other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.

    Assist in the planning and execution of special events and celebrations.

    Professional Development:

    Attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.

    Seek opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in early childhood education is a plus.

    Previous experience working with young children in a daycare or educational setting.

    Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate activities.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with children.

    CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Background check and clearances in accordance with local regulations.

    Physical Requirements: The demands of this job require the candidate to sit, stand, walk, bend, jump, reach, and lift equipment and children up to 50 pounds. This position often requires the candidate to be outdoors, to crawl, stoop, balance, walk up and down stairs, and run. This job description is an overview of the tasks that are required.
