Piping Technology and Products, Inc. started in 1978 and is one of the largest privately-owned pipe support manufactures. Key products are spring pipe hangers, pipe shoes, fabric expansion joints, and pressure vessels. We are looking to fill a Junior Buyer position to help source raw materials and supplies for manufacturing.
Job Description
This position will help source and purchase raw materials such as steel plate, steel pipe, and structural steel. The buyer will also need to be able to cross-train in other various commodities that may include fasteners, insulation, shipping suppliers, and plasma table consumables. An RFQ will be generated and the buyer will source with a preferred vendors list and also find new suppliers. Buyers are encouraged to provide new ideas or products that can help improve manufacturing efficiency or quality of product. The ability to calculate and maintain inventory levels will be a plus. Good negotiating skills are needed. Must be able to work independently and be highly organized.
The ideal candidate will have either a Bachelor’s degree in business or minimum five years as a buyer. Work environment will be in a shop office and the buyer must be able to handle a fast-paced work load. Attire is casual to business casual. Working hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree is required or a minimum of 5 year experience in procurement or supply chain
· Develop business relationships and seek out new potential materials and suppliers
· Negotiation skills
· Must know basic functions of Microsoft Excel
