Position Overview
The Junior Controller supports the broader finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and improving financial processes. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and well-suited for a high-growth environment where strong fundamentals, ownership, and continuous improvement are valued. The role offers meaningful exposure to all aspects of accounting and finance, close partnership with senior finance leadership, and a clear path for growth into a Controller or Finance Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, inventory, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets)
- Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking actuals vs. plan
- Help maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies
- Support audit and tax processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Partner with AP/AR to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Support systems improvements and process automation within the accounting function
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Must have 3-5 years of CPG experience with clear understanding of trade deduction management
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle)
- CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
