Jr. Data Analyst
Location: Dallas, TX. Near Downtown Dallas.
Onsite Position : (In-person only – Remote Work is not an option for this Position)
Schedule: 20-30 hours/week (Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM–4:00 PM)
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Reports to: Operations Manager or IT Manager
Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Position requires U.S. job authorization
Position is in-person (no remote) and works in our corporate office in Dallas, TX
Organization Overview
Beacon Hill, www.beaconhillprep.org, is a non-profit organization that provides critical supplemental math and reading tutoring and enrichment to students in local Public & Charter Schools throughout the North Texas area. Programs include in-school, after-school, and summer programming. We ensure students Catch Up, Keep Up and Stay Ahead by developing data-informed intervention plans for our students and programmatic academic support to teachers and parents throughout the school year. Our desired outcomes are to help each student achieve grade-level proficiency in math and reading, develop confident learners, and level the playing field for all participating students
Position Summary
The Jr. Data Analyst (JDA) will play a critical role in supporting Beacon Hill’s Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Strategy. This role will analyze students’ progress, strengths, and weaknesses with their academic trajectory and that of their peers. In addition, the JDA will create reports that illustrate progress (across various modalities) by student, by classroom, by subject, by grade-level, and by campus. These reports will be based on current and historical data across individual students and student groups in our program and will be used to create interactive online dashboards, analytic toolsets, and trending analysis. The JDA will be responsible for the data collection, cleaning, normalization, integration, summarization, and visualization of various reports for multiple departments inside and audiences outside Beacon Hill. The JDA will also support Salesforce and other cloud applications while contributing to ongoing process improvements and reporting systems that drive program decisions and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
Clean and prepare data from multiple sources (e.g., Salesforce, Excel, Student Records, Private Student Data, etc) for analysis and reporting
Build and maintain interactive online dashboards using ClicData & Microsoft Power BI that illustrate and exhibit the ongoing status and trajectory of our students and programs
Support the automation and visualization of academic performance reports for internal teams and external stakeholders
Process Improvement & Documentation
Document and update workflow processes using Lucidchart
Map data flows and support Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) development and management
Assist in identifying opportunities for improved data management and visualization across internal departments and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Required
Experience in data science, data analysis, supply chain, information systems, education, or related related field
At least 1–3 years of experience in data analytics and/or business intelligence
Intermediate to advanced experience in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Must reside in the Dallas area and be available for (in-person only) work at our HQ location near downtown Dallas, TX
Preferred
Experience in a non-profit or educational setting
Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
Familiarity with Lucidchart or similar workflow tools
Knowledge of Application Programming Interfaces (API)
