Position Summary:
The Judicial Coordinator at The Walker House Inc serves as the primary liaison between the facility and the criminal justice system, including courts, probation and parole offices, public defenders, Commonwealth attorneys, and jail personnel. This role is essential for ensuring transparent, timely, and accurate communication regarding client legal statuses, court requirements, and treatment compliance. The Judicial Coordinator supports clients navigating the legal system while ensuring The Walker House Inc remains compliant with court mandates and reporting expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and maintain all communication with court systems, probation/parole officers, attorneys, and jail staff on behalf of clients and the facility.
Track and manage legal documentation such as court orders, probation conditions, sentencing requirements, and release conditions.
Prepare and submit client progress reports, discharge summaries, and legal compliance documentation to appropriate judicial entities.
Attend court hearings (in-person or virtually) to provide updates on client treatment participation and advocate for continued care when appropriate.
Maintain detailed, confidential records of each client’s legal status, reporting timelines, and case outcomes.
Schedule and facilitate court-required drug screens, check-ins, or treatment updates in coordination with clinical and administrative staff.
Work closely with case managers, peer support, and clinical staff to ensure clients are meeting legal obligations within their treatment plan.
Monitor and document any legal violations or court non-compliance and report these to the appropriate legal authority as required.
Educate clients on their legal responsibilities and assist in navigating court requirements related to treatment.
Develop and maintain a database or tracking system to monitor active legal cases and upcoming court dates.
Uphold HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards in all communication and documentation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field preferred.
Prior experience working with the criminal justice system, court systems, or treatment courts strongly preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and legal timelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both clinical and legal audiences.
Ability to build rapport with court officials, legal representatives, and treatment professionals.
Must possess cultural competency and the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and legal confidentiality practices.
Ability to pass a background check and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a substance use disorder treatment program or behavioral health setting.
Familiarity with Kentucky court systems, drug court processes, and community reentry programs.
Peer Support Specialist certification or related training is a plus.
