    Key Requirements

    We are seeking a qualified and motivated lawyer with a strong interest in developing a career in international arbitration.

    Essential qualifications and attributes:

    • A qualified lawyer with an active practising certificate. Ideally candidates must be licensed to practise in Washington, DC but this is not essential.

    • A Master’s level qualification and an excellent academic record.

    • Relevant professional or academic experience in high-value, complex international commercial and/or investment treaty arbitration.

    • Familiarity with leading international arbitration rules and a strong grounding in procedural and substantive aspects of international dispute resolution.

    • A clear and demonstrated desire to specialise in international arbitration, including oral and written advocacy development.

    • Fluent English communication skills, with additional languages highly desirable to support the firm’s international client base.

    Key skills and competencies:

    • Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills with an ability to present complex arguments succinctly and persuasively.

    • Clear understanding of contractual and treaty arbitration frameworks, procedural strategies, and case law.

    • A structured and accurate approach to written work, with the ability to adapt communication to different stakeholders.

    • Strong organisational and time management skills, including experience managing competing priorities in a high-pressure environment.

    • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills, with confidence in communicating with clients, colleagues, tribunals, and opposing counsel.

    Role & Responsibilities

    As a Junior Associate, you will support partners and senior colleagues in advising and representing clients in a wide range of international arbitration and public international law matters. The position offers substantial exposure to complex disputes and strategic legal work across multiple jurisdictions.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Supporting partners in advising and representing clients in commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and public international law matters.

    • Conducting detailed legal research, drafting pleadings, advisory memos, and correspondence.

    • Reviewing documentation, gathering and assessing evidence, and contributing to the preparation of witness and expert statements.

    • Liaising with clients, expert witnesses, tribunals, and opposing counsel throughout the arbitration process.

    • Supporting oral and written advocacy in line with strategic case objectives.

    • Contributing to the ongoing development of internal best practices and case strategies, while maintaining a high level of professional responsibility.
