    A6 Scientific Corp. is a federal contractor providing professional and technical support services to government clients. We are hiring a Junior Interior Designer to support a federal healthcare client in Long Beach, CA.

    Position Overview

    This is a strong opportunity for an early-career interior designer to build meaningful experience in a federal healthcare environment while supporting projects that directly serve Veterans. Working alongside Senior Interior Designers and client design staff, the Junior Interior Designer supports design, planning, activation, procurement documentation, FF&E coordination, and installation activities for healthcare facility projects.

    This role is best for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with drawings and documentation, and able to support multiple moving parts in a structured project environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist Senior Interior Designers and client design staff with interior design and activation support

    Prepare AutoCAD FF&E plans, sketches, color schemes, and design presentation materials

    Review architectural drawings and help develop furniture, fixture, and equipment plan layers

    Support preparation of procurement packages, including scopes of work, specifications, bid sheets, schedules, and supporting documentation

    Maintain design files, procurement records, specifications, project binders, and resource library materials

    Support furniture, accessories, art, signage, equipment, and office supply planning for activation projects

    Help coordinate delivery, installation, and punch list completion with vendors and installers

    Prepare meeting notes, schedules, design collateral, and project tracking materials

    Support move planning, activation logistics, and day-in-life planning activities

    Assist with field verification, installation review, and project closeout support

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must meet one of the following:

    Associate’s degree in Interior Design or a related field; or

    1–3 years of relevant interior design experience; or

    Recent graduate with completed internships or practical experience in commercial, healthcare, or institutional design settings

    Required Skills

    Proficiency in AutoCAD

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural specifications

    Ability to prepare design documentation accurately and clearly

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Strong organization, time management, and follow-up skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in healthcare, hospital, federal, or institutional environments

    Familiarity with healthcare or federal design standards

    Experience with Revit or Microsoft Project

    Knowledge of NCIDQ, EDAC, LEED, or PMP, or active pursuit of one of these credentials

    Familiarity with patient-centered care design principles

    This role is fully on-site in Long Beach, California

    No remote or hybrid work

    Candidate must be able to work in a federal healthcare facility environment

    Candidate must be able to pass required background screening before starting work

    Candidate must be able to follow client site policies, badge requirements, safety rules, and professional workplace standards

    This role supports a structured client contract, so dependability, professionalism, and responsiveness are essential
