    Position Overview

Kaleidoscope Supply Services supports the staffing of this position on behalf of a client company. If selected, you will be employed directly by the client—not Kaleidoscope, the VA, or the federal government.

This role supports a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) federal contract. You will work alongside VA teams to help deliver services that support veterans and the VA’s mission.

    About the Role

We are seeking a detail oriented and motivated Junior Interior Designer to join our team in Long Beach. In this role, you will support the design lifecycle for major construction projects. You will work under the guidance of the contracted Interior Designer, Interior Design Assistant, and VA Interior Designer to ensure seamless execution of interior design services. This position is a support role focused on technical drafting, documentation, and coordination activities, providing an excellent opportunity to apply AutoCAD skills and organizational expertise within a fastpacked, largescale healthcare project environment.

    Key Responsibilities

Prepare and refine detailed AutoCAD designs, floor plans, and visual aids in support of assigned project objectives.

Produce comprehensive procurement packages for furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) under the direction of the Interior Designer.

Maintain and organize the firm’s resource library, ensuring that all materials and samples are current and accessible.

Create and maintain precise meeting notes and project correspondence to keep all stakeholders aligned.

Support the creation and execution of design services for the same complex spaces assigned to the Interior Designer, including patient care, administrative, and support environments.

Assist with the development and monitoring of activation of project schedules, including deadlines, objectives, and task delegation.

Assist with the oversight of on-site installations, the development of punch lists, and the coordination of final move-in logistics.

Help define and document resource requirements and project milestones within the Interior Design Section.

    Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience in an interior design or architectural support role, specifically within major construction or healthcare-related projects.

Degree in Interior Design or a related field; entry level or associate level certifications (e.g., NCIDQ eligibility, LEED GA) preferred.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments under supervision.

Required proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Proven ability to interpret blueprints and create both free-form and scaled drawings.

Familiarity with furnishings, materials, and specialized design standards, including Patient-Centered Care principles.

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for coordination with designers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

    Contract Details

This position supports a federal nonpersonal services contract with the VA.

The anticipated contract term includes one base year with up to two optional renewal years, subject to funding, performance, and government needs.

As part of the federal approval process, the VA may review resumes and may request interviews.

Final placement and start date are contingent upon VA approval.

While Kaleidoscope Supply Services manages the staffing process, the employer of record will be the client company supporting the VA contract.

    Compensation

Hourly pay: you are paid only for hours worked.

No paid holidays (holiday pay is not reimbursed by the government for this role).

No paid time off (PTO) is included.

Overtime is not permitted unless pre-approved by both the client and the VA.

This compensation structure is standard for federal nonpersonal services contract positions.

    Benefits

This type of federal contract does not include government funded benefits. In alignment with contract requirements and standard industry practices:

Medical, dental, and vision insurance are not included

    Retirement plans are not included

No employer sponsored benefits are offered for this position

    Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, drug and alcohol screening, and onboarding or training. Personnel must comply with VA workplace conduct and appearance standards.

Who Is This Role Ideal For

This position is well suited for candidates who:

Want to support federal work without being a federal employee

    Prefer hourly, contract-based roles

Are comfortable in structured, compliance focused environments
