Job Description:
As a Junior Mechanical Designer at 120 Degreez, you will play an important role in supporting senior engineers in the design, drafting, and coordination of mechanical (HVAC) systems for a variety of building projects. This position offers an opportunity to develop your technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and grow within a collaborative and dynamic engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and drafting of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning layouts under the supervision of senior engineers.
Perform basic load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout preparation using standard software and firm design templates.
Develop plans, sections, and details for mechanical systems in AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring accuracy and coordination with other disciplines.
Collaborate with project teams to prepare comprehensive mechanical design packages, including drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Conduct site visits to collect field data, verify existing conditions, and support senior engineers during construction phases.
Assist in the review of shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals to confirm compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
Coordinate mechanical layouts with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to ensure smooth system integration and resolve design conflicts.
Stay informed about the California Mechanical Code, Title 24, and sustainable design best practices to support the firm’s commitment to energy efficiency.
Support internal process improvements, documentation updates, and quality standards for project deliverables.
Perform other tasks as assigned by senior engineers or management.
Qualifications:
1–2 years of experience in mechanical or HVAC design (internship or professional experience preferred).
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required; familiarity with load calculation tools a plus.
Basic understanding of HVAC systems, Title 24 Energy Standards, and mechanical design principles.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
