We are a full-service growing midsize commercial law firm with offices in several states, headquartered in mid-town Manhattan.
We have an exciting opportunity with the newly created role of Junior Payroll and AP Specialist, where you can contribute in a meaningful way to the Firm’s success. The prospective candidate will work very closely with the HR Director, the CFO and the Accounting/Admin team. The Firm is using ADP Workforce as its payroll processing service.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the HR Director and the CFO to ensure that the Firm’s bi-weekly payrolls are processed accurately
- Become proficient with the payroll system and processes to assist hourly employees with timecards
- Work closely with the benefits and 401K brokers to ensure accurate deductions. Review period-over-period payroll changes, and audit benefits invoices to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Work closely with the CFO to reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Answer employee questions about paychecks and handle issues, as required
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding payroll setup
- Assist with the year-end W-2 reviews and other year-end compliance reporting
- Manage employee reimbursement processes
- Partner with the AP team to assist with certain daily AP functions
- Serve as a back-up for AP processing
- Work closely with everyone on the Administrative and Management teams, and assist with various other requests and projects, as may be required
- 5 days in the office is mandatory (mid-town Manhattan)
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
Required Skills
- Must possess strong attention to detail
- Excellent excel skills are required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
- Willingness to step up, take on more responsibilities, and assist the broader team
Required Experience
- Previous payroll experience is required, minimum of 2 years
- Experience in Legal industry is highly preferred
