The Junior Personal Injury Paralegal provides administrative and case support to attorneys and senior paralegals in a fast-paced personal injury practice. This entry-level position focuses on client communication, record gathering, case organization, and pre-litigation case development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, professional with clients, and eager to grow in personal injury litigation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Intake & Communication
Obtain and organize:
Accident details
Insurance information
Medical provider information
Maintain regular client contact regarding:
Treatment status
Medical appointments
Case updates
Assist clients with PIP, MedPay, and property damage documentation
Medical & Billing Records
Request, track, and follow up on:
Medical records
Medical bills
Radiology films and reports
EMS and hospital records
Log and organize medical records into the case management system
Prepare medical chronologies and summaries for attorney review
Monitor liens and subrogation claims (health insurance, workers’ comp, Medicaid/Medicare)
Insurance & Claims Support
Open and aintain insurance claims
Verify coverage and policy limits
Submit:
Letters of Representation
Medical documentation
Wage loss forms
Communicate with insurance adjusters regarding records and status
Pre-Litigation Case Support
Assist with:
Demand package preparation
Settlement documentation
Release review preparation
Draft routine correspondence:
Record requests
Status letters
Client follow-ups
Track statutes of limitation and treatment milestones
File & Case Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical case files
Enter and update data in the firm’s case management software
Ensure all documentation is properly scanned, saved, and indexed
Assist with case closing and disbursement preparation
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or coursework preferred
0–2 years of experience in a law firm or medical/legal environment preferred
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Professional demeanor with injured clients and families
Preferred Skills
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
Familiarity with:
Medical terminology
Insurance claim procedures
Experience with legal case management software (e.g., Needles, Filevine, SmartAdvocate, Clio)
