The Felician Sisters of North America is hiring a part-time Justice and Peace Coordinator Associate to work in our Chicago (60659 area near Lincolnwood and North Park neighborhoods) location. This position will average 20 -29 hours per week and offers a flexible hybrid setting after the initial training/orientation onsite.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Justice and Peace Coordinator Associate works alongside the Provincial Justice and Peace Coordinator providing leadership and direction to the justice work of the Felician Sisters of North America as conveyed in their Corporate Stands, the Mission and Vision of the Congregation, and further delineated in Chapter Enactments.
Corporate Stands include but are not limited to: Current justice issues such as human trafficking, death penalty, homelessness, immigration and gun violence.

Education:
• Spiritually mature with a strong sense of vocation to social justice and a deep respect for Catholic Social Teaching.
• Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
• Applicants with degrees in the areas of Social justice, Restorative Justice, Community Organizing, Theology, Public Policy, Political Science, etc. will be strongly considered.
Experience:
• At least three to five years of experience in a position focused on education and activism in the areas of Catholic Social Teaching/Social Justice. Preferred
• Experience in facilitating and convening groups.
• Demonstrated experience in promoting education, social activism and related initiatives, such as issuing educational alerts, statements, sign-ons, or engaging in issue campaigns, forming coalitions, etc.
• Catholic faith and teaching preferred. **** ****
Knowledge:
• Possess some knowledge of religious life and can demonstrate a personal commitment to the Catholic Social and Moral Teaching.
• Clear understanding and connection with the Mission and Vision of the Congregation.
• Knowledge of current best practices in the field of justice and advocacy work.
• Strong emotional intelligence and judgment; demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across lines of difference and points of view.

• Possesses the ability to be a self-starter, capable of follow-through, functions effectively as a team member, and demonstrates evidence of a high degree of sensitivity to persons and issues.
• Proactive, self-directed, and able to multitask effectively.

• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Energy and passion around justice issues and the ability to coordinate opportunities for appropriate responsive action.
• Ability to exercise sound pastoral and strategic judgment in complex or rapidly changing circumstances.
• Ability to be objective and to adjust and rearrange priorities.
• Holds a working knowledge of and/or comfort with distance communication (e.g., using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Travel Requirements:
• Position requires 25% travel as needed (includes periodic overnight travel).
• Must have a valid driver's license, automobile, and ability to drive and a valid passport.
• Must be willing to travel by plane at time.
Work Environment:
• This job operates in a professional office environment with possibility of a hybrid role. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones.
