    Job Description

    JOB PURPOSE

    Omniverse Group – a privately held fund that invests in multiple companies from technology, consumer products, and manufacturing – is looking for a full-time Controller to grow with the company. As a key member of the Finance team, this role will provide financial leadership for Omniverse Group and its subsidiaries. This position is accountable for managing all accounting operations, upkeeping the integrity of the company accounting records and operations in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, where applicable.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    The primary job duties and responsibilities detailed below provide a general outline of day-to-day responsibilities. Having an open mindset to ad hoc requests and changes to current responsibilities is crucial in the startup phase of our operations.

    • Directs the accounting activities of the business in support of revenue and profitability goals
    • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
    • Provide accurate, timely, and GAAP compliant income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements on a monthly basis
    • Manage general ledger and perform month-end and year-end close processes
    • Financial package preparation, review, and analysis
    • Report on monthly variances to both budget and prior timeframes and recommend a course of action as necessary
    • Prepare documents and interpret complicated financial information for managers, executives
    • Prepare and maintain an annual budget and forecast updates
    • Verify accounts by reconciling statements and transactions
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable
    • Prepare invoices, enter bills
    • Oversee and maintain accounting system and ensure accurate and timely entries
    • Ensure that cash and revenue are reconciled on a regular basis
    • Maintain cash forecast
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with all tax matters including year-end filings, sales tax both US and international, city taxes, and any tax credit studies
    • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
    • Ensure compliance with all internal processes
    • Work with Operations to perform physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliations
    • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
    • Issue timely and complete financial statements
    • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
    • Develops, leads, managers and motivates the team
    • Ability to manage up and down, working with senior management to determine the success of the business unit
    • Justify and implement new systems, equipment, and process management to improve quality and efficiency

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting Preferred
    • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
    • Public accounting experience is a plus
    • Apparel or Consumer Goods experience preferred
    • Advanced QuickBooks knowledge, including 3rd party apps (Shopify, etc.)
    • 8+ years of experience in accounting and finance
    • 4-6 years in a management level finance or accounting role
    • Experience working with and producing GAAP compliant financial statements
    • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance and oversight
    • The ability to see beyond the numbers and merge best practices with business needs
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines, work with a sense of urgency
    • Skill in productivity, planning, and workload management
    • Ability to design, document, and implement process improvements
    • Effective team building, coaching, and persuasion skills
    • Skill in negotiation regarding complex issues

    • Cost accounting or inventory accounting experience
    • Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency companies strongly preferred
    • Financial analytics and modeling experience
    • Strong system skills with advanced Excel
