You’ll be consulted on hiring practices, paralegal salaries and billing rates, train new employees, and decide which paralegal is best suited to handle certain projects. Additionally, you will monitor and track the department’s continuing education status and make recommendations for classes paralegals should take. Responsibilities: • Advise in making personnel decisions, including hiring/termination, salaries, promotions and yearly reviews, as they pertain to paralegals • Confirm Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are being tracked and recommend additional classes if needed • Manage our team of paralegals and assist with assigning projects organizing and prioritizing tasks, caseload, and workflow, and advise on how to resolve conflicts, when they arise • Act as a liaison between attorneys and paralegals, ensuring projects are completed accurately and timely and resolve conflicts as needed • Draft various legal documents to support attorneys, such as pleadings, discovery requests and answers, memoranda, and contracts • Providing outstanding customer service and prompt communication to clients and referral sources • Updating in case management the clients’ projects with any relevant matter events, deadlines, and reminders • Filing new entities, amending articles, converting entities, and other entity work in the Division of Corporations for the State of Florida and Delaware, with little to no supervision • Requesting EINs online and on paper with little to no supervision • Drafting the bases for corporate documents, such as operating agreements, resolutions, consents, addendums to agreements, and others, for attorney review • Drafting demand letters and cease and desist letters for attorney review • Completion of applications for governmental agencies, such as liquor licenses, trademark applications, nonprofits, etc., for attorney review • Drafting of contract term sheets for agreements entered into by clients • Drafting bases for Letters of Intent and Memorandums of Understanding • Flawless coordination of full execution of documents by all parties Qualifications: • Leadership, decision-making, management, and communication skills are necessary in this position • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft and Excel • At least 5 years' experience working in a paralegal specialist, case manager, or legal assistant, legal office manager position • Paralegal certificate from a nationally accredited program preferred • Member of local paralegal association and/or National Federation of Paralegal Association preferred Compensation: $60,000 yearly
