  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Key responsibilities of the Intervention Specialist include the following:

    • Provide an educational program for students with disabilities as defined in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
    • Provide intervention services to all students through participation in the Response to Intervention (RTI) process
    • Regularly assess student work and track student achievement data to improve student academic performance
    • Work cooperatively with lead classroom teachers and other staff, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curricular as necessary, and assisting students with regular class assignments
    • Collaborate regularly with parents and teachers regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of students
    • Work closely with the Director of Student Services to serve as case manager, maintaining relative special education student files, completing necessary reports and record keeping as required by state and local policies and procedures.
    • Build authentic relationships with families to partner in ensuring the academic success of each student
    • Use effective strategies to create a positive and joyful classroom climate
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
    • Current Ohio Intervention Specialist License or willingness and ability to pursue certification by start date
    • Minimum of one year of lead teaching experience
    • Belief that outstanding school leaders, staff, and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students.
    • Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
    • Willingness, and commitment, to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students.
    • Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous, fast-moving, start-up environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high levels of responsibility and multiple priorities.

    Compensation

    At KIPP Columbus we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive with our compensation and benefits offered to our team. This role follows our teacher salary scale linked here, with a starting salary of $50,000 with 1 year of experience. We also offer appreciation stipends for those that have been a KIPP Columbus employee for 5 and 10 years.
