    Job Description

     KEY REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead instruction for small groups of students

      • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission and to advancing its antiracist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families

      • Subscribe to theVision for Teaching Excellence and commit/contribute to constant professional growth and development

      • Provide timely and meaningful evaluation/correction of student work and student questions (quick return is critical in the online setting)

      • Maintain positive supervision and an orderly online classroom.

      • Implement the program-wide and classroom management policies and practices

      • Show initiative in generating ideas and solutions; solves problems and achieves results beyond what is expected

    • Plan for instruction based on virtual content and student work

      • Collaborate with other Learning Coordinators and the Digital Content Creators to analyze data, group students, teach, and assign interventions

      • Prepare intellectually by analyzing student work from the morning, creating a re-teach plan, and delivering the re-teach lesson in order to ensure that ALL students are getting excellent instruction tailored to their needs  

      • Determine how students spend instructional time within a fixed rotation schedule (i.e., digital software for knowledge and skill acquisition, large and small groups with Learning Coordinator, etc.), utilizing every minute as learning time.

      • Utilize assessments that accurately measure student progress

      • Invest students in their learning using a variety of techniques

    • Build trusting relationships with staff, ALL students, and families

      • Be the connection between the school and family: communicate with students and parents, keeping them informed of students’ progress, in the afternoons and assigned evenings.

      • Identify and address individual students’ social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs and barriers

      • Identify and address individual students’ development of organizational and time-management skills

      • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all students

      • Respond to student and family phone calls as soon as possible

    • Be available for virtual program every day

      • While students receive instruction from 8:00am-3:45pm, KIPP DC virtual program Learning Coordinators are on duty and available online Monday through Friday from 7:45-4:15 (M, W, F) or 5:00 (T, TH)

      • Analyze data from personalized learning platforms to assign students aligned lessons to their needs and plan small group instruction

      • Perform advisory, analyze student work and data daily, and facilitate whole & small group work time 

      • Attend weekly staff meetings, professional development sessions, and daily team meetings

      • Display an incredible work ethic and a passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture

    • Pass a criminal background check, as required by law

    • Additional responsibilities may arise during the school year.  This could include but not limited to: attending staff and student field trips, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other events involving parents and students as needed. They will be communicated to all employees with as much notice and flexibility as possible.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Required)

    • Bachelor’s degree in content area (Preferred)

    • Proven ability to lead virtual instruction, including driving student outcomes (Preferred)

    • Commitment to working with students from communities with limited access to quality educational opportunities (Required)

    • At least two years of teaching experience in a public school or education degree with student teaching experience (Strongly Preferred)

    • Experience/strength in content area (Preferred)

    • Must maintain a professional virtual work environment, free of distraction.

    • Must have access to stable, high speed internet

    • Must live within the continental United States and maintain east coast hours.
