POSITION OVERVIEW
The Floating Lunch Administrator is a full-time position and will be required to travel between KIPP DC campuses and schools depending on the need and serves all students PreK-3 through high school. Staff reports daily to the home-based campus when coverage is not needed. The Lunch Administrator is responsible for meal preparation, data collection and data entry into our lunch tracking platform at each school. Employees in this position are expected to maintain a “whatever it takes for our children” attitude. Flexibility, organization, and the ability to positively interact with children, staff and vendors in a fast-paced environment are also essential. The Lunch Administrator may be expected to work independently or as part of a team with the vendor. The Lunch Administrator is an hourly, non-exempt position and will report to the Food Service Director. The floating lunch administrator position is currently designated as a 1-year role and will be re-evaluated at the end of SY 22-23.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DAILY:
Working collaboratively with food service vendors and other administrators to execute daily meal operations.
Maintaining the school kitchen in compliance with health codes, including taking accurate readings of the refrigerator and oven temperatures
Ensuring compliance with the National School Lunch Program
Counting breakfasts and lunches after they are delivered
Preparing the breakfast and lunch carts, and delivering them to classrooms
Serving breakfast and lunch to all students, as appropriate
Cooking breakfast and lunch in retherm ovens and taking food temperatures, as appropriate
Cleaning and sanitizing of food prep tables and kitchen appliances
Packing and organizing snacks, and delivering to classrooms
Collecting breakfast, lunch and snack Point of Service rosters and bags from classrooms
Entering daily breakfast, lunch and snack participation counts from meal rosters into KIPP DC’s meal claim tracking platform accurately and in a timely fashion
Working with campus staff to ensure that breakfast and lunch counts have been tallied and entered accurately and in a timely fashion
Completing food production records on a daily basis
Maintaining an organized filing system according to company standards
The ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Maintaining an organized filing system according to company standards
Reconciling classroom food waste and tracking data on form
WEEKLY:
Tidying and organizing the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health regulations
Organizing the refrigerator and storage areas
OCCASIONALLY:
SCHEDULE AND HOURS:
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week with some commitment to overtime on certain days.
The schedule is from 7:00 am – 3:30pm with some days requiring a 6:00 am shift to prepare hot breakfast. The schedule for the Lunch Administrator is up to the discretion of the Senior Manager of Campus Operations and can be changed depending on need.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Comfort with working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment
Ability to provide great customer service to students, staff and vendors
Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot issues
Strong attention to detail, accurate data entry and daily deadlines
Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission
Ability to sit, stand, grasp objects
Ability to read and draft written communication
Experience with data entry, filing, and comfort with technology
Experience with PowerSchool, Outlook and Microsoft software is preferred
Ability to conduct basic mathematical concepts such as counting, adding, and subtracting.
As a lunch administrator at KIPP DC, you are required to become a Certified Food Manager, obtain the Certified Food Manager Identification Card, and successfully pass an approved Food Sanitation Exam within 30 days of being hired and renew license as required at least every 3 years.
