    Job Description

    As a member of the communications & marketing team, the student recruitment associates (2) are responsible for implementing our comprehensive student recruitment plan. This includes family outreach, event planning, digital marketing (social, email, sms texting, web, seo, etc.), collateral development, and copywriting. The student recruitment associates will work closely with the associate director of student recruitment, school leaders, members of the marketing and communications team, community engagement team, and compliance team to build strong family demand for KIPP DC schools and convert interested families into enrolled families. They’ll represent KIPP DC externally to potential families and work to ensure KIPP DC is fully enrolled. 

    The ideal candidates are energetic, forward-thinking, and detail oriented individuals. A strong results orientation and strong interpersonal skills are a must, as is an ability to work enthusiastically in a constantly changing environment and balance multiple priorities and competing deadlines. Additionally, possessing the capacity to excel operationally is critical for success in this role. This is an exempt role and reports to the associate director of student recruitment. Candidates should have experience executing on grassroots engagement strategies, building relationships with stakeholders in the community, using data to identify best practices, and have an orientation toward collaborative planning. Some experience in marketing and communications is preferred. 

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Please Note: KIPP DC is hiring two (2) student recruitment associates at this time. The exact portfolio of schools and day-to-day responsibilities of each associate will be determined by the associate director of student recruitment. The responsibilities below are illustrative of the work that a student recruitment associate may take on, but not comprehensive. 

     

    RECRUITMENT PROJECT MANAGEMENT, STRATEGY, & EXECUTION (60%)

    • Create and implement student recruitment marketing strategies, including: digital display and lead generation ads, email nurture campaigns, social media campaigns, print campaigns, radio, adwords, etc. 

    • Devise open house, school tour, and other recruitment event strategy and partner with school leaders to ensure best-in-class execution.

    • Develop new marketing strategies to attract families to KIPP DC, with particular emphasis on PreK3 families. 

    • Support KIPP DC’s high schools by engaging current KIPP DC 8th grade families through programming, events, shadowing opportunities, etc. 

    • Track family interest through student recruitment marketing funnel (interest, application, enrollment), making adjustments and improvements as necessary to meet KIPP DC’s enrollment needs.

     

     

    DIRECT OUTREACH (30%)

    • Represent KIPP DC at community events, fairs, festivals, and other outreach events that bolster enrollment. 

    • Develop, plan, and lead initiatives and events to reach prospective families by mobilizing the community engagement team, parent leaders ,and school leaders. 

    • Routinely engage prospective families to keep them excited and informed through SMS texting, phone calls, newsletters, events, etc.

     

    COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES (10%)

    • Develop digital and print communications templates that support the recruitment life cycle.

    • Collect and maintain accurate lead and applicant data to track effectiveness of recruitment tactics. 

    • Develop and maintain operational systems to manage complex projects and report progress across to key stakeholders.

    • Participate in KIPP DC headquarters and external affairs-related activities, including staff meetings, professional development conferences and retreats, fundraising events, and other public relations opportunities.

    Qualifications

    • BACHELOR’S DEGREE REQUIRED 

    • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed; experience in K-12 education preferred

    • One to three years of classroom teaching, marketing, sales, or recruitment-related experience required

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook required 

    • Strong cultural competency skills, including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders

    • Commitment to advancing KIPP DC’s anti-racist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families

    • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to take initiative, receive feedback, and seek out creative ideas

    • Excellent time management skills and a detail and results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

    • Comfort with working in a fast-paced, nonprofit environment along with an outstanding ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute projects at a high level

    • Willingness to travel between our eight campuses and attend weekend and evening events at our schools

We look at compensation benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector to determine our starting salaries. THE ANTICIPATED STARTING SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $50,312-$57,765.
