    Job Description

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    We are looking for highly motivated interns to join the KIPP DC headquarters team for the summer of 2023. These outstanding individuals will support a team in the KIPP DC headquarters office over the course of approximately eight to ten weeks, running from June through August. Specific timing is flexible based on team assignment and individual time constraints. In addition to working on a specific project or set of projects within a functional team, interns will have the opportunity to engage with one another and senior staff through meetings, informational interviews, workshops, and events. This position will either be hourly non-exempt or will count towards course credit. Interns Report to a member of their assigned team as well as the internship coordinator.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Interns will be placed on a specific team within the KIPP DC headquarters office and will work on a project or set of projects in addition to providing general support to their team and to KIPP DC.Teams that may host interns for the summer of 2023 are listed below. In your cover letter, please note which team(s) you are interested in.

     

    • Academics (Updating curriculum pacing calendars, curate book lists to align to grade-level curriculum, and support summer teacher professional development)
    • Advancement (support with planning and attending recruitment events and strategy sessions)
    • Data & Student Information (Scheduling at high schools, support projects related to our student information system, and other data analysis projects)
    • Finance _(Payroll,  grant projects, and other finance functions) _
    • Knowledge & Learning _(Preparing high-quality ongoing professional development for resident teachers, teachers, teacher leaders, and school leaders) _
    • Operations (School-based COVID work to ensure compliance and supporting KIPP DC’s virtual learning  model)
    • Technology (Assisting with asset management projects and provide tech support on  Chromebooks for students and staff)
    • Policy (Drafting legislative proposals, research policy ideas, and meeting with government officials and community leaders to share those proposals)
    • Student Recruitment (Planning and attending recruitment events and strategy sessions)
    • Customer Service (Summer New Hire Orientation through project planning, new hire communication, and other projects with the HR team)

    Human Resources (Managing benefits, leave and other human resources functions)

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • High school degree required; current undergraduate or graduate students preferred
    • Dedication to KIPP DC’s mission and core values
    • Organized and detail-oriented
    • Willingness to take initiative; belief that no job is too big or too small
    • Willingness and desire to learn; team player with a positive and collaborative attitude.

    Additional Information

    COMPENSATION:

    THE ANTICIPATED HOURLY RATE FOR PAID INTERNS WILL BE $17.00 PER HOUR AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The average weekly hours may be between 20-25 hours per week.
