Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Associate
Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
KIPP DC seeks a self-motivated Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Associate to join the KIPP DC Talent Operations Team. The Talent Operations Team is responsible for coordinating cross-functional projects in the talent team, including the HR team, recruitment team, and the talent development team and sharing data and insights with internal and external stakeholders. The HRIS Associate will serve as a systems administrator for Workday, KIPP DC’s HRIS, and will use this expertise to compile and analyze data for staffing initiatives, such as teacher retention. This exempt role will report to the Associate Director of Talent Systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION - 35%
Assist in maintenance, troubleshooting and design of Workday. Key responsibilities can include:
Maintaining fields that influence access in our other downstream systems, like OKTA, Outlook and Deanslist
Building reports with conditional logic to provide insights into our employee data and trends
Completing audits to ensure human capital data is accurate for our payroll and finance teams and updating fields when necessary
Creating automated tasks and reports that provide our internal and external stakeholders with timely information
Configuring Workday security groups and business processes to reflect standard operating procedures
Compiling documentation to track these updates and support our teammates when navigating these changes
Explore additional functionality within Workday to optimize its use at KIPP DC
Contribute to the Workday steering committee with your insights and best practices
Support other systems, such as SmartRecuiters, KIPP DC’s applicant tracking system (ATS), and our custom staffing tool as needed
DATA ANALYSIS - 35%
Identify information sources and gather and interpret data to help drive various talent initiatives to support our staff members at KIPP DC
Complete the annual OSSE Staffing and Faculty Report and semi-annual TNTP Roster submission, via KIPP Foundation
Conduct robust data analysis on cross-functional talent initiatives, including:
Retention and attrition of our school based staff, including any sub-team analysis at the grade band level (early childhood, elementary, middle, high school)
Equity analysis towards our DEI goals across various compensation-related initiatives, including staff salaries and additional payments
Collaborate with the recruitment team to analyze data-related needs for staff retention and the intent to return survey.
Lead presentations on data reportings for the broader talent team
Create presentation resources for the executive leadership team with powerful facts and analyses that outline solutions and drive change.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT - 20%
Provide project support and coordinate mission critical milestones on various talent initiatives, including (but not limited to):
Returning offer letter coordination for all KIPP DC staff members
Additional payments and compensation
Data integrity for talent based projects
Manage and troubleshoot inquiries regarding returning offer letters to ensure staff member satisfaction.
Liaise with the payroll, finance, and HR teams to ensure accurate and timely execution of additional payments.
Ensure payments are aligned to budget and expected pay dates throughout the fiscal year.
Support other project management initiatives, such as:
Ensure proper progress towards key milestones through proper project plan management
Communicate updates and/or other data reportings to cross-functional stakeholders regarding statuses of the project in question
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT - 10%
Respond to customer-related inquiries related to additional payments and/or returning offers
Coordinate weekly talent operations team meetings and other team-related activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
1-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Direct experience and passion for urban education preferred
A customer service approach to supporting team members, internal projects, and stakeholder management
Comfort communicating with internal and external stakeholders
Successful track record of collaboratively working with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external
Shows initiative in generating ideas and solutions; solves problems and achieves results beyond what is expected
Familiarity with creating data sets, using data sets to generate reports and analyses, and using Excel/Google Sheets to compile and present data to stakeholders required
Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills
Proactively seeks and acts on feedback
Strong cultural competency skills, including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed
Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission and to advancing its antiracist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families
Excellent time management skills and a detail- and results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
Comfort with working in a fast-paced, nonprofit environment along with an ability to multitask, prioritize, manage and execute projects with autonomy

When it comes to compensation, at KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. We look at compensation benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector to determine our starting salaries. THE ANTICIPATED STARTING SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $55,343-$63,540.
