  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will provide legal counsel and strategic guidance for officers, management, and employees of the KIPP Foundation.

    • Provide thought partnership and support on a variety of legal matters including: employment law, corporate governance, intellectual property, contracts, and regulatory compliance;
    • Assist with internal investigations;
    • Coordinate with KIPP Foundation teams on a variety of legal matters, including responding to legal inquiries and reviewing documents for legal form and mitigating risk;
    • Assisting in the management of litigation and regulatory activity;
    • Drive the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes, and document management; and,
    • Assist with drafting legal policies, presentations, reports, and correspondence

    Requirements/Experience

    • Juris Doctorate, current state bar membership, and at least four years of experience as a law firm associate or in-house counsel
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization
    • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment with the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Demonstrated passion for and a commitment to the KIPP Foundation mission for high quality public education for all
    • Ability to be flexible and demonstrate humility


    Additional Information

    Location & Employment Status

    We are currently working in a telework environment because of COVID-19. The preference is that this position be based in the San Francisco Bay area. This is a full time, exempt position.
