    Job Description

    KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a Lead Teacher for English Language Learners at KIPP Impact Academy (K-8). The teacher will provide push-in and pull-out services for students who qualify for ESOL programming and help support the assessment of students who may qualify for programming. The lead teacher for ESOL will be responsible for delivering effective and rigorous instruction that is differentiated for students’ specific learning needs.

    The ESOL teacher will report to the School Leader but will have strong working partnerships with both the School Counselor and ESE Lead. The teacher will work typical lead teacher hours at the school that they support. Ideal candidates are familiar with and have experience with ESOL education and are excellent at codifying systems as they go since our in-region program will be brand new.

    The ESOL teacher focuses on ensuring that KIPP Jacksonville complies with all Education Plans, teaching small groups of students, providing support facilitation in general education settings, and working with families of ESOL students. The teacher will work with multiple grade levels and will help facilitate ESOL support with staff.

    This is a full-time position that works closely in our existing special education department. They will attend meetings around student IEPs, where necessary. All teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by a manager and school leader.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Write ELL Educational Plans and hold meetings as required by federal law.
    • Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons that are aligned with the school’s curriculum in literacy, math, science, and social studies and that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
    • Implement, by instruction and action, the region’s philosophy of education, curriculum, and instructional goals and objectives
    • Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic and leadership standards
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations

    COMPENSATION

    • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification
      • Elementary Education K-6 for elementary
      • 6-12 in a subject area for secondary
      • K-12 special education
    • ESOL Endorsement reflected on teaching certificate
    • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in a ESOL program

    HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress)
    • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in an elementary grade level
