    Job Description

    The Campus Social Worker is responsible for supporting scholars and families with services related their social and emotional needs to ensure scholars can access their work and be successful.  The K-8 Campus Social Worker provides direct as well as indirect services to scholars, families, and school personnel to promote and support scholar’s academic and social success.  

    As a Campus Social Worker, your core responsibilities include:

    Direct Scholar Support

    • Conduct assessments and safety plans for scholars in crisis; follow-up with community mental health providers to ensure scholars are supported
    • Provide group and individual counseling to scholars

    Direct Family Support

    • Assist families in accessing and utilizing school and community resources, including support from social and mental health agencies
    • Engage hard to reach families through home visits, conferences and regular follow through
    • Educate families on the importance of regular attendance in all years of school; problem solve and provide resources when attendance challenges arise

     

    Training and Consultation

    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and parents to better understand and meet the needs of all scholars
    • Collaborate with school counselors to develop staff professional development
    • Provide consultation to school staff as issues come up around guardianship

    Compliance

    • Monitor attendance data at assigned campus, ensure state and district attendance policies are followed; Follow state laws for Attendance Truancy; support school wide attendance plans.
    • Support and attend Juvenile Court Hearings
    • Ensure protections and resources are provided to homeless students through McKinney-Vento
    • Contact state and local authorities for child abuse/neglect issues and any criminal activities concerning the student
     
    
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Social Work required
    • GaPSC Certification in Social Work preferred
    • Experience in Urban Education
    • A passion for being a part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
    • Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students
