We’re looking for behavior specialists for the current school year! Our elementary and middle school are seeking awe-inspiring behavior specialists to guide our students as they climb the mountain to college and beyond. Our behavior specialists are dynamic leaders both in and outside of their classroom. They love students, working with families and the community they serve.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
We have behavior specialists that work directly with two teams, Special Education Team and School-wide Culture. The responsibilities are listed below.
Supporting Special Education Team
- Provide assistance with individualized programmed materials - specifically with students who need additional behavior support.
- Maintain appropriate records and daily/weekly tracking sheets.
- Assist with progress monitoring for students with challenging behaviors and who have individualized education plans.
- Assist in education demonstrations, if necessary.
- Respond to, de-escalate, and intervene in student conflicts and altercations for students assigned on caseload.
- Be a good TEAMmate – work closely with other school staff to reinforce expectations for all students.
- Support Culture Team with students with the most challenging behaviors.
Supporting School Culture Team
- Provide & implement specialized & individualized behavioral interventions for students with most challenging behaviors, with or without an IEP.
- Support classroom teachers & school-based staff in implementing individualized behavioral interventions and strategies with the intent of eventually scaffolding support away from the student to promote independence throughout the school day.
- Support & collaborate with the Regional Social Workers & School-based counselors in writing and implementing SE-BIPs for students assigned on their caseload.
- Respond to, de-escalate and intervene in student conflicts when it is connected to a student who is on their caseload.
- Maintain appropriate records and tracking of student behavior in SE-BIPs for students assigned on their caseload.
- Research, recommend, develop, and implement new initiatives that strengthen student behavioral success.
- Motivate assigned students on caseload to participate in various social and cultural activities run by the school.
