Executive Assistant and Communications Associate
Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Assistant and Communications Associate is responsible for providing the ED and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with the support needed to successfully run a growing, high-impact organization as well as sharing the message of KIPP Minnesota with all stakeholders. This individual must be someone who takes initiative and is willing to take on any task. By managing critical administrative and communications functions, the Executive Assistant will create invaluable time and space for leaders to focus on organizational priorities that will improve outcomes for students. Elements of this position will be tied closely to all regional departments (e.g. integrating web content from other teams; managing events; and creating marketing materials). This role provides direct support to the ED and ELT, and reports to the Director of External Affairs and Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the ED and ELT to expand KIPP Minnesota’s impact by connecting the dots between teams and projects, anticipating needs, and creatively and proactively tackling challenges
Streamline the ED and ELT’s time by managing all scheduling for the ED; ensure that adequate meeting preparation is completed and that related correspondence occurs in a timely manner; maintain the schedule throughout each day
Provide day-to-day support, such as coordinating all meeting logistics, maintaining organization of the regional office, processing expenses, and coordinating meals as needed
Manage logistics and record-keeping for quarterly meetings of the KIPP Minnesota Board of Directors; provide as-needed support for the co-chairs of the KIPP Minnesota Board
Build relationships with key stakeholders and effectively communicate with members of the KIPP Minnesota staff and Board to advance organizational priorities; keep team members connected and involved
Provide event planning support for Board and leadership team retreats and off-sites, regional team celebrations, and more as needed
Maintain and advance KIPP Minnesota’s mission to all stakeholders (internal and external) through a consistent, clear, and compelling messaging
Develop the annual communications strategy in partnership with the Regional Leadership Team, which will guide strategic communications initiatives throughout the year
Develop a marketing strategy in partnership with the Regional Leadership Team that effectively amplifies the mission of KIPP, increases awareness of important education and social justice issues, and maximizes the organization’s fundraising efforts
Design and create printed and electronic collateral, for example flyers, online invitations, e-asks, e-cards, and e-newsletters
Manage website and online presence, including social media
Oversee KIPP brand adherence
Work across teams to support and advance regional priorities, for example enrollment and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Actively engage with campuses, staff, families, and our community through presence at schools and participation in special events to gather content for effective communication
Develop and maintain KIPP Minnesota’s relationship with local and national media
Qualifications
An ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree. We are seeking someone who is:
