    Job Description

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The KIPP NYC Data Integration Manager is an essential technical role on the KIPP NYC Data Team that will lead the building and maintenance of integrations between the various systems in use at KIPP NYC and our data warehouse, Schoolzilla. The Data Integration Manager will also manage PowerSchool(our SIS) enrollments and ensure that enrollments are accurately reflected in all of our connecting systems and be Tier 1 support for those systems. The Data Integration Manager will report directly to the Director of Data.

    This position is based out of the KIPP NYC office in Midtown Manhattan, with limited travel to our KIPP NYC across the city.

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

    BUILDING AND MAINTAINING DATA INTEGRATION PROCESSES RELATED TO STUDENT AND STAFF DATA.

    • Create and troubleshoot ETL (extract, transform, load) scripts in SQL and Python programming languages that process student and staff data systems including, but not limited to Power School, DeansList, Canvas, Illuminate, Whetstone, Smart Recruiter, Salesforce and their integration to Schoolzilla

    MAINTAINING AND BUILDING USER FACING DASHBOARDS USING TABLEAU AND SCHOOLZILLA

    • Incorporate new integrations and optimize efficiency and performance of existing integrations and processes
    • Proactively monitor data for completeness and accuracy and communicate with impacted stakeholders when issues are identified

    MANAGING START AND END OF YEAR SET UP FOR KEY SYSTEMS AND ONGOING SUPPORT

    • Manage beginning of year enrollment process in Power School
    • Manage and monitor integration of student enrollments to Illuminate, Canvas, and DeansList, as well as provide Tier 1 support for Power School, Illuminate, Canvas, and DeansList
    • Manage Illuminate roll over to new school year
    • Collaborate with IT to ensure working connections between systems
    • Manage upgrades in PowerSchool (SIS) with minimal impact to users and limited downtime
    • Develop, implement and manage systems to identify student data errors in PowerSchool, including those related to attendance, discipline, and scheduling

    SUPPORTING THE DATA TEAM IN LONG-TERM PROJECT EXECUTION, INCLUDING

    • Managing KIPP NYC’s data warehouse and reporting platform, Schoolzilla.
    • Maintaining KIPP NYC’s data dictionary which describes the contents, format, and structure of the data warehouse and the relationship between its elements
    • Implementing long term strategy to optimize data warehouse structure and performance
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of work experience or 5+ years’ work experience strongly preferred
    • Data Visualization experience, especially Tableau preferred; SQL experience highly preferred, ability to program in Python, preferred
    • Understanding of educational data and data systems, including PowerSchool (highly preferred), Illuminate, and Salesforce
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, including Advanced Excel skills required
    • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to independently manage projects and produce high quality work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization with an emphasis on the ability to present data in a clear, concise, and accessible manner
    • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment with the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information
